A portlet is a component of a portal that works like a smaller page-within-a-page, showing a fragment of a full resource, with a link to the full resource. Multiple portlets can appear on a single page, allowing you to view multiple resources at one time. Portlets are typically used on a homepage for the user to view updates to favored resources, RSS feeds and web pages.
What is a portlet?
What is an RSS feed?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS feed to whoever wants it.
Using an RSS Feed allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.
A variety of RSS readers are available, such as Bloglines or Google Reader, and many web browsers now incorporate an RSS reader.
Why should I register?
Registered users have the ability to personalize the Primate Portal homepage with portlets containing news, saved searches and other information. Registered users can also create and edit pages within the Normative Values section of the Portal.
